He Used to Get Crushed….
Jim Beshada came to me after his sophomore year as a wrestler and not making it out of his district.
His burning passion to succeed and his commitment to work blew me away.
He had a super tough weight class as a sophomore and never even made it out of his district.
He trained Underground with me in my backyard and garage and NEVER missed a session. During summer vacation Jimmy commuted 2 hours EACH WAY from Long Beach Island to get his workouts in!
Jimmy qualified for states as a junior and then was a state runner up as a senior.
Freshman year in college he qualified for D3 Nationals and won his conference as a Freshman!
Wow, kinda sounds like my mentor, Coach Ethan Reeve! a TRUE Beast
Today, Jim is a sophomore, ranked top 5 in the country and looks to be quite the force!
When I watch him wrestle I’m always thankful I’m not the one wrestling him, because I would get crushed! ha ha
Check out a recent match of Jim crushing the competition…
Jim’s little brother, Erik, also trains with us. Training young athletes with the proper methods is critical to giving them the advantage long term. Too many young athletes specialize and in turn end up burning out physically and / or mentally by the time they reach high school!
If you want to experience the success of other athletes such as Jim and Erik, then call or e mail us to schedule your interview for The Underground Strength Gym.

What are YOU Waiting for?!?!?
Yesterday we had a crew of athletes training at The Underground, and one of our athletes brought his friend.
His friend was just going to watch.
I told him to jump in and test drive it, get a workout in.
He responded, “Naaaaaaa, I’m tired”.
I said to him, “Tired? Are you varisty? Do you want to get better?”
He answered, “No, not varsity, I just want to get ready to train with you b/c I heard it’s hard.”
My reply, “You’re tired, you’re not varisty, you’re waiting to get ready to train here? You’re not the kind of athlete we train. If you want to win what better time than NOW is there?”
As you can tell, I was pissed off.
I am annoyed by laziness and procrastination.
Where is the fire and burning desire to win?
Pass a f-r-e-e workout up because you’re tired?
Can you really be successful with this attitude?
Our job at The Underground is to get YOU stronger, faster, more explosive, tougher and in excellent condition.
We don’t care how “ready” you are when you show up, that’s OUR job, to get you ready.
You just need to take action and want it bad enough.
This kid sat there reading a newspaper.
I am apalled at this lack of motivation, lack of passion and lack of drive to succeed.
Un-Freakin-Real!
Kill it!

PS: Do you want it bad enough? Maybe you’re a parent reading this. Are you helping your child compete at his / her best?

Kettlebell Training in Edison, NJ
Russian Kettlebells - yes, they’re just a tool, but a damn effective tool.
Just 1 part of our arsenal for developing strong as hell, fast as hell and mentally tough athletes.
Here’s a workout soon to be performed at The Underground Strength Gym, inspired by my good friend, Jonny Hinds.
10 Minutes
15 / 15 (15 seconds work / 15 seconds rest)
Double Kettlebell Clean & Press
This could get ugly!

Sometimes, You Gotta Get Crazy
Crazy training doesn’t mean stupid or sloppy.
But, there are times when you REALLY need to push the envelope.
The intensity and volume shoot sky high and you take advantage of these days when your energy is sky high.
In the video below, you’ll see some of our collegiate athletes getting crazy.
They were ready for it.
Some of them have been training with me for YEARS and have been built up to handle this type of intensity.
The smartest thing these athletes ever did was to step up and become a member of The Underground Strength Gym.
Why?
Because it gave them the edge over what their competition is NOT doing.
You come here and you do it right, all the time, every time.
One of our athletes, a wrestler from Edison, NJ, Mike Bandiero, just won his 4th consecutive Warren Hills Wrestling tournament. He dominated his way through the tournament and became Edison High School’s 6th wrestler in history to become a 4 x Warren Hills Champion.
His competition sure as heck isn’t training Underground!
What are you doing to get the edge over your competition?
Do you want to win? How badly?
Do you want to get a college scholarship for athletics?
Do you want to break records?
Then do something about it.
Kill it!
–Coach Z–
PS: Only highly motivated, dead serious athletes are accepted into our program. We are eliminating our FREE trial workouts. Too many tire kickers. What we do works. The track record has been proven for years. Time to walk the talk.

We are NOT created Equal
It’s funny, way too often people think that if they simply use the same equipment as a world class athlete does, they too will achieve world class status.
Wrong.
There are other gyms who use sandbags, tractor tires, kettlebells, etc - as do we at The Underground Strength Gym. So now we can assume they will achieve the same results elsewhere as they would here, correct?
Wrong.
We have athletes coming here from other gyms who use tractor tires, sandbags, etc and they come here unable to do 1 pull up! Something is wrong here!
Why does every gym in America have a bench press, yet in some gyms benching 315 makes you the strongest guy in the gym, while in other gyms, 315 means jack shit. It means you don’t touch the i pod, it means you don’t ask questions, it means you shut up and train.
The differenceis atmosphere and the methods being used.
The tools don’t matter much if you don’t know how to use them to their best effect.
The tools and methods mean that much less if the atmosphere is crap and noone is being pushed to their limits.
So, if you have tires and kettlebells, good for you. You better know how to best implement these tools into an overall program, throughout the entire year, when to deload, when to push, how long to use a certain training cycle and when to back off, when to switch movements and methods on the fly due to the daily fluctuations of energy, mind set and physical health of athletes.
In the video below, I see people benching over 600 lbs, squatting over 800 lbs - I don’t need to go there because guess what, I have a bench and squat rack in my gym too.
Right?
Wrong!
Time to shut up, don’t ask questions, listen and train.
Pay attention, class is in session!
If you’re not pushing to break records and be the best while you’re at The Underground Strength Gym - you’re going HOME!
This is a place for die hard serious athletes.
Do you want in?
Only if you have been referred or invited.
No walk ins.
Peace,
–Coach Z–
PS: I don’t give a shit if I have 5 athletes training here. Numbers are NOT my motive, I want those who have the eye of the tiger. Unfortunately, less and less athletes have the eye of the tiger. Don’t waste our time unless you have the eye of the tiger.
